Do you ever feel uncomfortable making eye contact, let alone actually holding a genuine conversation with the poor and marginalized? Do you ever wonder how you can love people that seem so different from us as God loves them? Do you ever contemplate how LGC can make a larger impact in our neighborhood? To try to resolve some of these questions, you can participate in the Community Outreach and Poverty Alleviation (COPA) equipping discussion series to become more prepared in interacting with those that we often struggle to interact with. All sessions will be highly interactive and aim to promote experiential learning. COPA will be held this fall. The detailed schedule is shown below.

  • Friday, September 23, 2022 – Philip Yen (Poverty and Posture)
  • Friday, October 21, 2022 – Jon Ng (Reducing the Shock of Those Different from Us)
  • Friday, November 4, 2022 – Journey Home (Walking in a Refugee’s Shoes)
  • Friday, November 18, 2022 – Jodi Spargur (Truth and Reconciliation)
  • Saturday, December 3, 2022 – Tim Dickau (Hospitality-Based Poverty Alleviation Model)

All sessions will be held in-person in the LGC Sanctuary from 7:30-9:30PM. All sessions will be delivered in English; there will not be translation. Light snacks will be provided.
