1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
     the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
     indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
2 Your throne was established long ago;
     you are from all eternity.
3 The seas have lifted up, Lord,
     the seas have lifted up their voice;
     the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
     mightier than the breakers of the sea—
     the Lord on high is mighty.
5 Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
     holiness adorns your house
     for endless days. (Psalm 93)

In this time of the pandemic, Psalm 93 encourages us by simply telling us “Who God is.” By re-focusing on God, the One we trust, we will see all the problems we see on TV in a completely different perspective. Let us see what Psalm 93 says.

Psalm 93:1 begins with declaring God is majestic: He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is similarly described in Psalm 135:5: “I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.” In other words, our God is transcendent, the One who is above all. Then God's Word demonstrates what this means by telling us something we all can see and hear: that it is by His strength that He has put this world in place. (That’s why everyone can have faith to say that “the sun will rise tomorrow.”) So, the stability and the regularity of this existing universe testify of God's majestic power.

Then, to further understand God's majestic power, we are told in Psalm 93:2 that His majestic power began way back in eternity and will go onto eternity. No one except the eternal God possesses such power. All other powers we know of are limited and transient, but only the majestic God rules from eternity to eternity. He possesses all power; He alone is Almighty!

Psalm 93:3-4 gives us a vivid description of the manifestation of God’s majestic power through His creation. It says that the ocean waves are powerful and they roar in majesty like you. They are enormous, as we can see, but you are more enormous! Psalm 93:5 ends with praising God that His law is firm and unchangeable and, from His Holy temple, He will continue to rule forever and ever. What a relief to know that He is the One we trust.

Now, let us look at our own lives from two angles. First: to know that, from His creation, God is so close and caring to all of us. Roman 1:20 says: “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.” The air we breathe in, the sunshine and the rain we receive, and the continuous pumping of our hearts: please never take them for granted. Every moment God is looking after you! Second: to know that for every event that happens and will happen in our life, the majestic God is sovereignly watching over us. One may say: "I have no control of the car that may hit me; I have no control that 100% the virus COVID-19 will not attack me; I have no control..." This is exactly why our majestic God always reminds us to commit our life to Him and to stop trusting in our own selves. When He controls our lives, we will know exactly the true meaning of "King of kings, Lord of lords, and He is above all gods". May our God bless you all abundantly.
